Home remedy to clean brass
Brass will naturally start to tarnish when it is exposed to oxygen but it does not rust because
it is resistant to corrosion. Here are
1. Salt and lemon or lime
For light tarnish, cleaning your brass jewelry with lemon and salt works great.
●Cut a lemon in half
●Dip the cut side of one of the lemon halves into a small bowl of salt
●Rub the salt and lemon over the surface of the brass jewelry until it shines
●Use a toothbrush to clean hard-to-reach places
●Rinse the jewelry
2. Salt, Flour and Vinegar
For your brass jewelry that has built up tarnish and lots of grim, the salt, flour and
vinegar method works wonders. If you’re not sure how to clean brass jewelry with lots
of tarnish, try out this method.
●Mix ½ cup white vinegar and 1 teaspoon salt and stir until salt is dissolved
●Add 2 tablespoons of flour to make a thick paste
●Rub the paste onto the brass jewelry with cloth
●Let it sit for ~10 minutes
The ketchup method is another great way to remove built-up tarnish on your brass jewelry. The acidic blend of tomatoes and vinegar in ketchup make it a great natural cleaner for brass jewelry.
●Squirt some ketchup onto a soft cloth or toothbrush
●Gently rub it onto the surface of the jewelry item
●If the brass jewelry item is badly tarnished, let it soak in the ketchup for ~3-5 minutes
●Rinse ketchup with warm water
●Dry jewelry item thoroughly with soft, dry cloth
